Curriculum
The training curriculum covers the locksmith profession and prepares the student to acquire a license form the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.
Class size is limited to twenty (20) students and is held Monday through Thursday and on Friday and Saturday. Basic Locksmithing Course: Morning (9:00AM – 2:00PM), Afternoon (2:00PM-7:00PM), Evenings (7:00PM-12:00AM) and Friday and Saturday (9:00am-7:00pm). Intermediate to Advanced Locksmithing Course, Advanced Locksmithing Course, and Combined Locksmith Security Course are held from Monday thru Thursday (8:30AM – 2:00PM, and (7:00PM – 12:30AM). The courses are taught by licensed teachers who are licensed locksmiths and have years of practical experience in the field. Our instructors serve as mentors to our students.
We use Locks and Locksmithing by Bill Phillips (ISBN: 978 07 144829 1) as our textbook. This textbook is provided to enrolled students by the school in electronic format free of charge.
We use Master Locksmithing by Bill Phillips (ISBN: 007 14 87514) as our textbook. This textbook is provided to enrolled students by the school in electronic format free of charge.
We currently offer four courses in locksmithing: Basic Locksmithing, Intermediate to Advanced Locksmithing, Advanced Locksmithing, and Combined Locksmith Security.
Basic Locksmithing
This is a 900 clock hour course that runs about 10 months (20 hours per week.) Topics covered in this course include:
